Dehydrated onion and garlic for foodservice and HORECA distributors

Foodservice buying is about pack format and order flexibility more than particle size. A kitchen wants a pack it can open, use and reseal — and a distributor wants several SKUs on one booking.

Who buys: Foodservice distributors, catering suppliers, hotel and restaurant group buyers, cash-and-carry
What goes wrong: Pack too large for a kitchen's usage rate, so product goes stale or clumps before it is finished.

Pack size drives everything in this channel. An industrial 25 kg bag is wrong for a kitchen that uses a few hundred grams a week — the product sits open, picks up moisture and clumps long before it is finished. Catering pouches and smaller cartons cost more per kilo and are still the right answer, because waste at the far end is more expensive than the pack.

Resealability is a genuine functional requirement, not a nicety. Kitchens are humid and busy, and a pack that cannot be closed properly will be ruined by moisture whatever the factory moisture spec said. If your customers are working kitchens rather than plants, specify the closure.

Distributors usually want several SKUs on one booking rather than a full container of one item. Onion flakes, onion powder and garlic granules together is a normal foodservice order shape. Both our dehydrated lines ship dry container, so combining them is straightforward — send the mix and we quote it as one shipment.

FAQ — Foodservice & HORECA

Can I order several SKUs on one container?

Yes, and it is the normal shape for a foodservice order. Onion flakes, onion powder and garlic granules on a single booking is straightforward because both dehydrated lines ship dry container. Send the mix and quantities and we quote it as one shipment rather than three.

What pack size suits a commercial kitchen?

Smaller than a plant would buy. Catering pouches or small cartons cost more per kilo but avoid the bigger cost, which is a 25 kg bag sitting open in a humid kitchen and clumping before it is used. Tell us the usage rate of your end customers and we will suggest a format.

Do you supply retail-ready or private-label packs?

Buyer-branded packs are possible when agreed in the contract, and labelling has to meet the destination's rules. Tell us the market and whether the pack is for a kitchen or a shelf, because the labelling requirements differ.

Can fresh produce go on the same order?

Not in the same container. Fresh ginger and green chilli need cold chain or air freight while dehydrated lines ship dry, so they are separate bookings. We can quote both, and we will be clear about which lanes actually work for the fresh lines.
